Naming Ceremonies

A traditional baptism or christening doesn’t suit everyone, and fortunately there are fantastic alternatives! A bespoke Naming Ceremony is a very special way of celebrating and honouring your child’s birth and welcoming your new arrival into the family. Formally announcing the name is just one part of the proceedings.   It is an opportunity to make your promises to your child in front of family and friends. Special friends and relatives can  confirm their relationship with your child, by becoming guardians or “godparents”.

I can help you create a wonderful family day with a selection of words, poems and readings.  We can include the lighting of a unity candle to symbolise light, hope and warmth. We can perform a sand ceremony for the children present, where vivid, coloured sands are added to a beautiful vase to symbolise the blending of the family.

As the child can be of any age, a Naming Ceremony is also ideally suited to welcome and celebrate an adopted child into the family or to embrace stepchildren.
